On Wednesday morning, the first regional consultative meeting was held at the headquarters of the Wilaya of Guelmim-Oued Noun. The meeting focused on preparing the foreign trade roadmap for the period 2025-2026 and was attended by the Secretary of State in charge of foreign trade, the Wali of the region, the President of the Regional Council, professional chambers’ presidents, parliamentary representatives, major investors, and government institutions’ representatives.
This meeting is part of a participatory initiative launched by the State Secretariat for Foreign Trade, aiming to engage regional economic actors in discussions to draft concrete proposals. These proposals aim to develop an actionable plan to boost foreign trade and contribute to the national economy.
The President of the Chamber, Lahoucine Alayoua, emphasized in his speech the region’s strategic role in supporting the national economy. He highlighted the notable development in Guelmim-Oued Noun, which positions it as a key economic hub for foreign trade. However, he stressed the urgent need for structural measures to create a conducive environment for advancing the sector.
He underlined the importance of upgrading the region’s ports with advanced commercial docks to improve logistical efficiency. Developing port infrastructure will attract investments and enhance cargo movement, strengthening the region’s position as an export and import center.
He also proposed establishing a modern laboratory in the Guerguerat area to provide quality testing services for imported products, ensuring compliance with national and international standards. This laboratory would enhance trust in foreign trade, accelerate customs procedures, and reduce costs for investors.
Additionally, he called for the creation of a dedicated export office within Tantan Customs to simplify export-related procedures and offer integrated services to exporters. This initiative would improve the competitiveness of local products in global markets and support exporters in expanding their customer base.
The President concluded his speech by urging all stakeholders to collaborate to implement these proposed measures. He emphasized that these steps would significantly contribute to economic development and establish Guelmim-Oued Noun as a leading region in foreign trade across the Kingdom.
