Strengthening Arab-African Economic Partnerships: An Overview of the Arab-African Chambers of Commerce and Industry Conference in Dakhla

The Guelmim-Oued Noun Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services, represented by its officials, participated on December 20 and 21 in Dakhla in the proceedings of the Arab-African Chambers Economic Congress. Organized by the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in cooperation with the Union of Arab Chambers and the Union of African Chambers, and in partnership with the Office for the Promotion of Investment and Technology, under the motto: “Investment and Sustainable Strategic Partnerships”.

This economic event aims to develop investments in the Arab and African world and to enhance cooperation in the areas of economy and trade in the region, and to establish a joint business environment that promotes growth and development.

The congress also served as a forum to discuss ways to develop infrastructure, transportation, and logistics in the region, crucial for enhancing and developing trade and investment in the agricultural sector and achieving food security, as well as entrepreneurship and support for small and medium enterprises. It also provided an opportunity for businessmen from the Arab and African world to explore new opportunities and establish sustainable partnerships.

The opening session of the congress witnessed the presence of the governor of the Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab region, the Minister of Industry and Commerce (via video conference), and the presidents of the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services, the regional president, the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Chambers, the President of the Union of African Chambers, and numerous heads and members of professional chambers in Morocco and their universities, as well as many heads and members of elected councils, heads of external services, economic actors, and investors from Morocco and Arab and African countries.

Over the two days, there were significant interventions and rich discussions among businessmen from the Arab and African world, representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry in Arab and African countries, joint Arab foreign commerce chambers, banks and financial institutions, as well as specialized Arab economic and financial organizations and associations, and representatives of investment promotion bodies and ministries concerned with trade, industry, and investment in Arab and African countries, in addition to a group of economic and financial experts.

The second day of the congress focused on work sessions centered on the role of financing institutions in promoting trade and investment and small businesses, as well as the role of Arab and African chambers of commerce and industry in achieving economic development.

The congress concluded with a set of recommendations aimed at increasing investment in the Arab and African region and strengthening trade and industry. The closing also featured the signing of partnership and cooperation agreements between the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services, the Union of Arab Chambers, and the Union of African Chambers, aiming to implement the proposed recommendations and work towards their realization in the framework of cooperation between the signing parties, followed by sending a message of loyalty to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
