As part of ongoing efforts to support the construction materials transport and extraction sector in the Tan-Tan region, an important consultative meeting was held on August 12, 2024, organized by the Regional Association of Professionals in the Extraction and Transport of Construction Materials in coordination with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services. This meeting was convened in response to the growing challenges faced by workers in this sector, focusing on possible ways to overcome obstacles and improve working conditions in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory standards.
Following this initial meeting, a second meeting took place at the Tan-Tan Province headquarters, chaired by the Acting Governor of the province, with the attendance of several Chamber members and local authorities. During this meeting, key points raised in the consultative meeting were discussed, with a particular emphasis on the need for swift and effective measures to address the issues faced by professionals, especially concerning the acquisition of necessary licenses and the regulation of tractors used in the transport of construction materials.
In a further step to deepen discussions and seek sustainable solutions to this issue, Mr. Mouloud Menad, Chairman of the Mediation and Dispute Resolution Committee of the Chamber, and Mr. Khalid Wotash, a Chamber member, visited the Water Basin Agency headquarters in Guelmim. This visit was part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at enhancing cooperation between the Chamber and the relevant authorities to find practical solutions that align with the legal framework and protect the rights of workers in this sector.
The visit to the Water Basin Agency provided an opportunity to open direct communication channels with the responsible officials, where immediate solutions were explored to help resolve the current crisis and open new horizons for organizing the transport and extraction of construction materials in a way that ensures continuity and stability for the professionals working in this field. Concrete proposals were discussed on how to streamline administrative procedures and enhance transparency in granting the necessary licenses and permits.
These initiatives reflect the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services’ commitment to continuing dialogue and cooperation with all relevant parties to reach agreements that benefit everyone and contribute to the development of the sector. It is expected that these efforts will soon result in comprehensive solutions that ensure the continued economic activity in the region while safeguarding workers’ rights and achieving a balance between the requirements of sustainable development and respect for the law.
In conclusion, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services reaffirms its commitment to supporting professionals, providing them with the necessary assistance, and working hand in hand with local authorities and relevant entities to find effective and sustainable solutions.
