Ordinary Session of the Chamber of Commerce of Guelmim Oued Noun: Economic Development and Business Support

The Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services of the Guelmim Oued Noun region held its second ordinary session for 2024, addressing several key points on the agenda aimed at promoting regional economic development.

The meeting opened with the approval of the minutes from the first session, followed by a report on the chamber’s activities between sessions. The report highlighted the chamber’s efforts to support development projects that enhance the business environment and provide investment opportunities. Members also approved a partnership agreement to fund and establish an economic activity zone in Tan-Tan, an essential project within the chamber’s strategy to bolster the local economy. This agreement was established in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, the Agency for the Development of Southern Provinces, the Regional Council, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. This economic zone is expected to create new jobs, attract investors, and drive economic growth in the region.

During the session, members discussed social security issues affecting companies and factories in the region. They highlighted the challenges businesses face in managing social security updates and emphasized the need for practical solutions to ease these burdens. The chamber committed to organizing direct meetings with relevant authorities to address these challenges and provide support to affiliated companies.

On the tax front, members raised new challenges facing affiliates, which have impacted the performance of many companies. The chamber agreed to hold regular meetings with tax authorities to stay updated on tax developments and work towards resolving outstanding issues, thereby facilitating the operations of chamber-affiliated companies and supporting their sustainability.

In addition, the attendees discussed several other issues of concern to professionals in commerce, industry, and services in the Guelmim Oued Noun region. Ideas were exchanged on ways to develop these critical sectors, support investment, and improve the business environment.

In conclusion, the chamber reaffirmed its commitment to achieving economic and social development goals, enhancing sectors within its jurisdiction, and collaborating with public and private entities to foster an investment-friendly environment and prosperity in the region.
